JOB SUMMARY:

Provides administrative, clerical, financial, and record and supply management support for the RCMP Detachment. Supervises RCMP Guards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares memoranda, forms, minutes and related documents; keeps records and files; administers contracts and agreements; processes timesheets and overtime claims
  • Organizes, schedules, coordinates, and inspects the work of Guards; measures and reviews performance and provides feedback
  • Maintains records of Guard qualifications and renewal of certificates and coordinates attendance at certification courses
  • Monitors budget expenditures; reviews and reconciles invoices, member expense claims and purchase orders and recommends approval and payment; maintains and balances contingency account
  • Provides information for the preparation of the annual budget and requests for proposals; prepares job cost estimates
  • Conducts safety meetings; ensures employees follow safe work procedures and have required safety training and equipment; conducts safety inspections of worksites and equipment and ensures corrective measures are taken
  • Coordinates cell block operations and vehicle fleet requirements
  • Liaises with other departments, contractors and Administration
  • Orders and maintains inventory of detachment materials, supplies, and equipment
  • Reviews staffing and hiring needs with the NCO
  • Coordinates relief coverage for City employees
  • Maintains professional and technical requirements for the position
  • Acquires familiarity with Dispatch Clerk duties so as to provide support when Clerk is unavailable
  • Performs related duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School (Grade 12)
  • Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s License
  • RCMP Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance
  • Corporate Management Branch Administrative Assistant’s Workshop
  • W.H.M.I.S. Certificate
  • PRIME Training
  • TEAM Financial System Training
  • Up to date knowledge of RCMP specific computer applications (CPIC, TEAM, PRIME), administrative systems and office technology as required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years related experience in Police office administrative support including use of custom software applications
  • Or an equivalent combination of experience and education

PAY RATE:

This is a union position with the current 2018 pay rate of $29.64 per hour as outlined in the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 798 Collective Agreement.

HOURS OF WORK:

Monday through Thursday, 7:45 am – 5:00 pm, up to 35 hours per week

Please note: This position is to provide support to cover for absences such as sick and vacation relief and requires availability for both short-notice and pre-scheduled short-term work.
