JOB SUMMARY:
Provides front counter reception and clerical support for the RCMP Detachment
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receives, records, processes, and redirects calls for service and information from the public and other sources
- Handles front counter enquiries and ensures sign-in/out of contractors, visitors, parolees and court ordered subjects
- Responds to radio calls from officers
- Provides information and assistance to a variety of internal and external contacts on files held at the detachment and processes inquiries on police databases
- Files complaints on police databases
- Maintains Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) files
- Files reports, letters, permits and court documents and types correspondence
- Attends safety talks and required safety training; follows safe work procedures; reports hazards, injuries and near misses
- Performs Criminal Record checks
- Maintains professional and technical requirements for the position
- Performs related duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School (Grade 12)
- RCMP Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance
- Typing Speed of 55 wpm
- W.H.M.I.S. Certificate
- PRIME Training
- CPIC Training
- Basic knowledge of the court system and court documents
- Up to date knowledge of RCMP specific computer applications, administrative systems and office technology as required
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 1 year related experience in administrative support including use of custom software applications
- 3 months previous experience working with the public
- Or an equivalent combination of experience and education
PAY RATE:
This is a union position with the current 2018 pay rate of $28.57 per hour as outlined in the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 798 Collective Agreement.
HOURS OF WORK:
9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Saturday, 7 hour day, up to 35 hours per week
Please note: This position is to provide support to cover for absences such as sick and vacation relief and requires availability for both short-notice and pre-scheduled short-term work.
