JOB SUMMARY:

Performs membrane cleaning and assists with the daily operation and maintenance of the City’s sewage treatment plant

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cleans membranes and maintains associated records and supplies
  • Performs basic building, equipment and facilities maintenance including cleaning and sweeping
  • Assists with the maintenance and repair of electric motors and pumps
  • Attends division safety talks, crew talks and required safety training; follows safe work procedures; reports hazards, injuries and near misses
  • Operates City vehicles (Class 5)
  • Operates equipment such as high pressure washer, forklift, and small hand and power tools
  • Maintains professional and technical requirements for the position
  • Performs related duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School (Grade 12)
  • Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s License
  • E.O.C.P. Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Level 1 Certificate
  • W.H.M.I.S. Certificate
  • Confined Space Entry Training
  • Forklift Training
  • Up to date knowledge of the City’s computerized systems, administrative systems and office technology as required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 year of experience as required for E.O.C.P. Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Level 1 Certificate
  • Or an equivalent combination of experience and education

PAY RATE:

This is a union position with the current 2021 pay rate of $29.18 per hour as outlined in the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 798 Collective Agreement.

HOURS OF WORK:

7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
