JOB SUMMARY:
Assists and relieves for the Accounting Clerk – Receivable, Accounting Clerk – Payable, Accounting Clerk – Payroll, and Senior Clerk – Property Tax/Utilities, and assists the Senior Accountants
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the Accounting Clerk – Receivable, Accounting Clerk – Payable, Accounting Clerk – Payroll, Senior Clerk – Property Tax/Utilities, and Senior Accountants as assigned
- Provides designated relief for the Accounting Clerk – Receivable, Accounting Clerk – Payable, Accounting Clerk – Payroll, and Senior Clerk – Property Tax/Utilities
- Maintains job-related records in accordance with the City’s Records Management Program
- Recommends and implements improvements to job-related policies, procedures, processes, and systems
- Documents all job-related processes
- Attends division safety talks, crew talks and required safety training; follows safe work procedures; reports hazards, injuries and near misses
- Maintains professional and technical requirements for the position
- Performs related duties as assigned
- Ability to approach work and relationships in a culturally sensitive and inclusive manner
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School (Grade 12)
- W.H.M.I.S. Certificate
- Minimum alphanumeric net data entry speed of 6000 keystrokes per hour
- Minimum net typing speed of 40 words per minute
- Intermediate spreadsheet software capabilities (Microsoft Excel)
- Basic word processing software capabilities (Microsoft Word)
- 2-year full-time Accounting Technician diploma from an accredited post secondary institution
- Able to operate job-related software programs, administrative systems and office technology
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 2 years of related experience
- Or an equivalent combination of experience and education
PAY RATE:
This is a union position with the current 2023 pay rate of $35.30 per hour as outlined in the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 798 Collective Agreement.
HOURS OF WORK:
8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, up to 7 hours per day, up to 35 hours per week.
Please note: This position is to provide support to cover for absences such as sick and vacation relief and requires availability for both short-notice and pre-scheduled work.
