JOB SUMMARY:

Oversees and administers Store operations and coordinates the work of Storekeeper support staff

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees and administers the full inventory cycle which includes but is not limited to:
    • Requests quotes from eligible vendors, following City purchasing policies
    • Selects the successful quote based on City purchasing policies
    • Creates purchase orders (PO)
    • Places and tracks purchases
    • Physically receives, stores and withdrawals inventory
    • Records all transactions and information from the full inventory cycle into the assigned software
  • Oversees and coordinates the work of Storekeeper support staff
  • Monitors inventory and maintains adequate levels
  • Maintains up to date systems for the physical and electronic managing of inventory
  • Responds to internal and external Store related requests
  • Records job-related invoices in the assigned software application and resolves discrepancies
  • Oversees, administers, and reconciles inventory counts
  • Identifies and resolves inventory obsolescence
  • Performs light janitorial duty in the Store office and warehouse
  • Oversees and administers the City’s fuel inventory and assigned software application
  • Maintains MSDS documentation for products received through the Store office
  • Operates City vehicles (Class 5)
  • Operates forklift, hand truck and other yard equipment
  • Performs basic period-end functions including working papers, lead sheets, reconciliations and responding to auditor requests
  • Maintains job-related records in accordance with the City’s Records Management Program
  • Recommends and implements improvements to job-related policies, procedures, processes, and systems
  • Documents all job-related processes and trains any relief and/or support
  • Maintains professional and technical requirements for the position
  • Attends division safety talks, crew talks and required safety training; follows safe work procedures; reports hazards, injuries and near misses
  • Maintains professional and technical requirements for the position
  • Performs related duties as assigned

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • W.H.M.I.S. Certificate
  • Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Forklift Training
  • Transportation of Dangerous Cargo Certificate
  • Minimum alphanumeric net data entry speed of 6000 keystrokes per hour
  • Minimum net typing speed of 40 words per minute
  • Intermediate spreadsheet software capabilities (Microsoft Excel)
  • Basic word processing software capabilities (Microsoft Word)
  • 1-year full-time accounting related certificate from an accredited post secondary institution (must include a minimum of 3 accounting courses)
  • Able to operate job-related software programs, administrative systems and office technology
  • Ability to approach work and relationships in a culturally sensitive and inclusive manner.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years of related experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of experience and education

 

PAY RATE:

This is a union position with the current 2023 pay rate of $35.30 per hour as outlined in the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 798 Collective Agreement.

 

HOURS OF WORK:

7:00 am – 3:30 pm or 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, up to 8 hours per day, up to 40 hours per week.

 

Please note: This position is to provide support to cover for absences such as sick and vacation relief and requires availability for both short-notice and pre-scheduled work.
