Manager of Recreation (Full-Time Permanent)
(Salary Range $97,716 - $112,200 per year)
The City of Powell River is seeking a collaborative, customer-service focused leader to oversee the operations of the Recreation Department. Ideally, you have a background in parks and recreation leadership, an appreciation for strategy and policy development, and hands-on experience in managing change in a municipal, unionized environment.
Reporting to the Director of Parks, Recreation, and Culture and liaising with all other City departments, you will ensure a coordinated effort in the delivery of a broad range of services, programs, and events. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Recreation Complex and overseeing related municipal services across various City facilities, ensuring that program delivery meets standards of service excellence. An innovative leader and strong communicator, you bring high quality professional standards and practices with your experience in recreation, as well as supervisory experience to this role.
Requirements include a degree in Recreation Management or a related field and at least five years of supervisory experience in a unionized setting. You have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of municipal recreation and experience with computer software applications related to customer registration, facility scheduling, financial tracking, asset management, and marketing. Financial acumen and conceptual planning skills are essential to effectively manage the department’s operational and capital budgets, administration, and records.
