Corporate Officer

(Salary Range $131,988 - $151,470 per year – Under Review)

The Corporate Officer is responsible for providing professional advice and assistance to Council, committees, City departments and the public and for corporate administration for the municipality.  Statutory responsibilities include preparing meeting agendas, recording minutes, drafting resolutions, responding to official correspondence, and serving as both the Chief Election Officer and Freedom of Information Head. Additionally, you'll provide expert advice on legal and risk management issues affecting the City, oversee the City's records management and retention system, manage the department’s budget, and collaborate with senior leaders to ensure a coordinated and effective delivery of services.

 

Ideally, you hold a degree Public Administration, Law, or a related field, and a Certificate in Local Government Administration is preferred. Candidates should have a minimum of seven years of experience in a comparable role at a senior management level and have extensive knowledge of municipal legislation, planning and land use management, city bylaws and related statutes, regulations and policies.  Highly organized and analytical, you’re able to maintain complex and extensive records, effectively manage a demanding workload, and meet multiple deadlines. A skilled communicator and relationship-builder, you display the highest levels of professional ethics, confidentiality and integrity.

 

The successful applicant must be willing to relocate to Powell River; relocation assistance is available.
